This is a great Fall themed treat. I ran across a site that used Mini Vanilla Wafers for this idea (at Design Dazzle) but I actually baked little tiny sugar cookies. I think it tastes better and allowed me to make some tiny acorns too, but you could use Mini-Vanilla Wafers instead. I also added the criss-cross pattern to give it a more "acorn" look.
Enjoy the Autumn weather!
What you'll need:
Tiny sugar cookies (between 1 and 1-1/4 inch diameter)
Tinier sugar cookies (3/4 inch)
Chocolate chips
Hershey Kisses
Plastic Ziploc Bag
Directions:
1. Melt some of your chocolate chip cookies in the microwave at 20 second intervals. Put the chocolate in a plastic bag and cut a very small tip off the bag. Pipe a criss cross diamond shape pattern on your cookies, then chill it in the fridge or freezer. Once the chocolate is dry, add a small dab of chocolate onto a chocolate chip and attach it to the top center. (For the tiny acorns, pipe a small stem of chocolate to the top center.)
2. Unwrap a Hershey Kiss and pipe a thick border of chocolate around the bottom edge. Attach it to the bottom of your cookie, centered.
3. For the tiny acorns, repeat step 2 with the smaller cookies and chocolate chips.
4. Keep the acorns cool so the chocolate doesn't melt.

Thanks for all the fun and easy ideas for the upcoming holidays, I can't wait to have a party!
Seriously, Molly! Can’t it be October already?!
Oh, these are darling! Makes me want to sign up to take treats for my kids' Halloween party. My husband loves sugar cookies, I don't care for them, but I'll eat anything with chocolate!! Maybe I'll finally make some.
BTW, I made those s'more pudding cups a while back, and I loved them! Thanks so much.
Glad you liked them Wendy! Aren’t they messy?! (The messiest desserts are always the tastiest).
When making the Hershey kiss acorns I used MINI Nutter Butter cookies they already have the diamond pattern on them and they are little rounded off sandwich cookies that make a better lookin acorn cap.
