Since posting the Chalkboard Cookie tutorial Monday, I thought a good sugar cookie recipe might be in order today. This is the recipe I use (a combination of different recipes I have found).
Sugar Cookie Recipe
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-2 tablespoons of Milk
Directions: Cream the butter and sugar. Mix in the vanilla and egg. Separately combine the dry ingredients and gradually mix it in to the butter mixture. Depending on how dry the dough is, you may need to add milk. Roll out the dough and cut out the desired shape. Bake 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees F on an ungreased cookie sheet. Let cool for a few minutes before removing from the cookie sheet.

How many cookies does this recipe yield?
I don’t remember the actual yield amount, but it makes a lot. I would guess anywhere between 2 and 3 dozen (depending on how large you make them).
